WINDBER, PA (October 30, 2006)— Applied Computational Technologies, LLC (AppCompTech) has announced that it is receiving investment funding from Ben Franklin Technology Partners and Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse (PLSG). Both organizations are investing $100,000 into AppCompTech for an infusion of new capital totaling $200,000.
“This funding comes at a very critical time in our company’s development,” said Jay McClatchey, managing partner of AppCompTech. “We are in the home stretch of and making final preparations for the long-awaited release of our product into the market. This funding will help ensure that this critical technology finds its way into the hands of physicians as quickly as possible.”
Ben Franklin awarded the endowment through its Challenge Investment Program. To win the award, AppCompTech presented a course of development for its product – ProACTive – for the next year in competition with a number of companies in Ben Franklin’s 34-county region.
This marks the first time AppCompTech has received investment funding from Ben Franklin. AppCompTech previously received a $35,000 grant from Ben Franklin after winning its Big Idea Business Plan Contest last summer.
“We were very pleased with how far they’ve gone and how well they’ve worked on this fairly long-range project with very little funding to date,” said John Johnstown of Ben Franklin. “We felt they were very worthy of getting Ben Franklin’s help.”
The PLSG award is the second $100,000 investment it has made into AppCompTech. John Manzetti, chief operating officer of PLSG, said his organization views ProACTive as a revolutionary product that will greatly improve treatment for cancer patients and help more people beat the disease.
“We think it’s a strong position for them to be the first into the market with this technology,” Manzetti said. “We are hoping through this investment that they can become a more successful and viable operation.”
